====Adding a Reference==== You can add a reference on your asset from the property detail page. Go to the bottom of the page (pictured below) to find the reference list. Clicking on 'Add Reference' will reveal the following options.... Simply start typing the asset name in the //Asset// field - matching asset names will pop-up for you to choose from. Once you've selected your asset, you'll be able to select from the **property** control. You can add a reference to a specific property, or by choosing '[Whole Asset]', the reference will instead point to the entire asset. Note that if you are referencing a single property, you have the option of //renaming it//. This can be useful when there are conflicting property names. Leave the **name** option blank if you'd rather not rename the property. ===Example=== For example, heaters often have a temperature sensor //before// the heater, and one //after//. Rather than showing two temperatures and needing to read the fine detail to figure out where the measurements are taken, using a reference you can rename the property to //Inlet Temperature// and //Outlet Temperature// to make the meaning of the values much more obvious. ===Integration=== For some applications, references have been replaced by the integrated relationship. References can be more difficult to maintain over time, so we suggest using integration wherever possible.
