====Connecting Properties to Data====

Setting up a [[bindings|data binding]] is a simple process - although if you are looking at connecting a large number of properties to external information, we suggest [[importing data bindings|importing them]].

1) Search for the asset that contains the property you want to bind.

2) Enter the [[detail_properties|details]] page for the asset and find the property.

3) Press the 'link' button to the right of the property.

4) Pick the data source from the drop-list

5) Fill in the details of the data point (the exact layout of this section will change based on the needs of the data source. Low-level sources such as MODBUS require quite a bit of information, while higher-level sources tend to just need a name).
