Choosing a Time Range

To begin a full system comparison, pick the time ranges you'd like to compare.

These do not have to be a similar size - you can compare a 2 hour batch against a 5-minute one.

[400]

Once you've done that, press Compare Times and continue to the comparison page.

After choosing your time range, you'll be able to then select which assets you'd like to compare.

By default, all of the assets in the database are selected. You can click on an individual asset name to toggle them on/off, or click the target icon to re-focus the comparison to only compare assets

A full system or deep comparison doesn't limit itself to only a few assets - it can be used to compare the activity of every asset in your system between two points in time.

This type of comparison is provided by the compare addon.

Full System Comparisons

A Full System Comparison - not surprisingly - compares the behaviour of your entire process between two times.

It's often used to compare two particular time periods to determine the root cause of a difference in behaviour, such as a quality failure, breakdown or unusual amount of resource usage.

Moment-To-Moment Comparison

In some cases, you're not interested in comparing periods of time like you do in most of the other forms of comparison we offer.

Instead, you're interested in specific moments or sample times.

This is quite common when you're trying to understand interactions between parts of your process, such as how product type effects temperatures, or how environmental conditions influence your quality.

Visual Comparisons

Normally, you use the Compare addon to compare either two assets, or one asset across different times. You can also - if the problem seems more difficult to find - perform a Full System Comparison comparison.

Unlike trend charts, this type of comparison works even when the two time-frames are dissimilar (ie. when you're comparing a 10-minute time frame against a 30-minute time frame).

The Compare addon is designed to compare the behaviour between assets or between times.

There are currently four different options when you first choose to compare.
