Although markerless tracking exists - and is an amazing way to create AR experiences - it's unfortunately not always a good fit for the markets where ARDI is used.

Industrial processes are often surrounded by metal, concrete, steam and mist - all of which cause seriously reduce the accuracy of GPS, making it useless.

They also have a lot of repetition - many of exactly the same piece of equipment, sometimes packed into very dense locations. Markerless tracking requires your equipment to be visually unique - and unfortunately this doesn't happen in many environments.
