Hierarchical Relationships

A hierarchical relationship places your assets into a hierarchy as a method of organising and grouping them in ways that make sense to people who may not be completely familiar with the layout of your plant.

They split your facility into smaller sub-pieces (which may themselves be split further) to break everything up into a logical 'tree'.

An asset may only appear in a particular hierarchy once.

ARDI ships with a pre-configured relationship of this type - Location.

Another example of a hierarchy (when dealing with assets that are employees) is an Org Chart.

One key factor that separates ARDI hierarchies from logical relationships is the fact that a hierarchy has a root - a single asset that every item has as an ultimate parent. This root is used as a starting point when exploring your assets.
