AR Marker Distance

As well as setting the marker ID, you can also set the AR Marker Distance property.

This allows you to specify how far away (and in what direction) the actual asset is compared to the AR marker.

This is mostly designed for cases where you have several items in close proximity - this way you can place a single marker and not have to deal with placing several small markers on individual pieces of equipment.

If every asset that shares an AR marker ID has the AR Marker Distance property, then ARDI-AR will display a set of arrows instead of a list of assets. Each arrow will point to the actual location of the asset.

This means that an AR users coming up to the marker will be able to see which asset is which, then touch the item they want to find out about.

Property Order

There are four parts of the AR Marker Distance property.

Marker size, horizontal distance, vertical distance, and depth.

These are normally specified in millimeters, but can actually be expressed in any measurements you like, as long as they are consistent with each-other (ie. if you are using inches, ensure every AR marker distance property is in inches).

Normally, positive numbers move right, up and forwards. Negative numbers move left, down and backwards.

So an asset with an AR marker distance of '25, 50, 0 0' is 50mm to the right of a 25mm-wide marker.

An asset with an AR marker distance of '50, -100, -100, 0' is 100mm to the left and 100mm down from a 50mm-wide marker.
