Scaling / Resizing an Asset

You can scale an asset by clicking on the 'Scale' control in the Edit Controls.

Like movement and rotation, you'll only be able to adjust your scale based on the editing grid.

If you are looking at the asset from the side, you'll be able to adjust it's height and depth.

From the front, you can adjust the height and width.

From above, you can adjust the width and depth.

When rotating an object, there are a few additional controls available.

Aspect Ratio Button

Next to where you enter your text values, you'll find a button showing a picture of a chain. This is the aspect ratio button.

When you click this button, the 3D model tries to correct its aspect ratio.

For example, the 3D model of a car is usually much longer than it is wide - simply because that's how cars are made. The length of the 3D model of a car will be 4.5m, height 1.5 and width 2m.

The aspect ratio button tries to restore this original relative scaling of your asset. It fits to your smallest dimension - so if your asset begins as a 1m x 1m x 1m cube (a very squashed-looking car), you'd end up with a 3 x 1 x 1.3m model, which will look much better.
