Setting Up Subscriptions and Delivery Methods

Subscriptions represent delivery to a destination.

The most common type of destination is an email address. In these email subscriptions, an email addresses may be subscribed to any of your bundles, and they'll be packaged up and sent to those addresses in a regular email message.

Note that we suggest you send reports to mailing lists rather than individual people - not only is this faster and less likely to trigger spam-filters in your email system, but it's also then much easier to manage your emails as people join and leave the company.

Alternatively, you can also send your reports to completely different distribution platforms in what is called a Service Subscription. For example, you might choose to send your reports to OneDrive, Sharepoint, Slack or Discord.

Both types of distribution are set up through the Subscriptions section, under Administration|Report Settings.

Adding Email Subscriptions

In the New User control, type the email address of the user and press Add New Subscriber.

You'll be taken to the Subscribing to Reports page.

Note that if your address doesn't contain the '@' symbol, the system will automatically add the configured default domain to the address.

If you enable the option, users can self-subscribe to reports. However, this only allows users to subscribe if they are on the default domain. Only administrative users can add a subscription to an email address outside the default domain.

For example, if your default domain is 'mycompany.net', users will be able to subscribe on their 'mycompany.net' accounts, but not send email out to their personal gmail account without the intervention of an ARDI administrator.

Adding Service Subscription

A service subscriptions are configured the same way as an email subscription, but uses a 'hash' (#) symbol to separate the method and the destination of the reports.

For example, you might want to add a set of reports to the 'Daily' folder in your Sharepoint system - in which case the 'user address' would be “sharepoint#Daily”.

Only administrators can add new subscriptions to services, and that service must be configured beforehand.

Some services - such as Discord integration - don't actually use the 'destination' option for anything meaningful. You still are required to have one, but in these cases simply choose something human-readable (ie 'discord#reports').

Next Steps

Once your subscriptions have been set up, you can schedule report distribution.
