Templates
In ARDI, a template is an asset that you'd like to be able to easily duplicate in the future.
Often, there is a lot of repetition when it comes to the equipment on site. Individual instruments and sensors or even whole sections of your plant will be replicated many times.
To make it easy, you can assign a template name to an existing asset. Then, by choosing that name from the drop-list in the asset creation page, you can replicate the entire asset.
What It Does
When you create an asset based on a template, the template asset and all of the assets located within it are duplicated.
Any internal connections (connections between the assets that are being replicated) are duplicated as well.
You'll be prompted to fill in any of the external relationships - for example, if the original asset was connected to both air and water, you'll be asked where the new asset is getting its air and water from.
Defining a Template
To define a template, choose the original asset you'd like to use and add the Template Name property.
Choose a meaningful - ideally human-readable - name for the template, so that it's easy for your users to create new copies.
Using a Template
To use a template, simply choose the name of the template from the asset creation page.
Note that if the assets name contains the name of the template, it will be automatically selected for your (ie. if you are creating an asset named 'Primary Control Valve' and you have a template called 'Control Valve', then it will be selected for you).
When you hit 'Create Asset', you'll be given the chance to connect each of your new assets, as well as assign ID numbers (such as the equipment reference number) for the components.
